Street Chalk Art

You’ve seen the amazing 3-dimensional chalk drawings on the street. This is your chance to learn how they are created and make one of your own! Benjamin Hummel and his wife travel the country as featured chalk artists for various festivals and events. From Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburg to Las Cruces, New Mexico, their light-hearted approach to the exploding field of three dimensional street art entertains audiences of all ages. In this upcoming class, Benjamin reveals some of his secrets about working in chalk. As participants of this class, students will learn some of the basics of working in chalk, some color mixing techniques, the unique challenges of working on concrete and asphalt, and how to make their illusions pop. Benjamin will also discuss with students the topic of idea generation, what makes for a good piece of chalk art and practical methods for gridding their work for the final large reproduction. Finally, at the conclusion of the course, students will have the opportunity to work in teams to create their own chalk art masterpieces.
 For teens and adults. Cost is $75 and includes all supplies.
